Winter School

SHAPES, ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY AND ALGORITHMS

15-19 March 2010
Auron, France

Supported by EC through the Marie Curie ITN Network SAGA
http://www.saga-network.eu

AIMS AND SCOPE

This workshop aims at supporting the exchange of ideas between the fields of Algebraic Geometry, Numerical Analysis, and Geometric Modeling. Topics of interest include:
  •   Geometry of curves and surfaces.
  •   Rational/implicit representation.
  •   Resultant constructions and implicitization.
  •   Singularities: detection and analysis.
  •   Curves and surfaces classification.
  •   Intersection problems.
  •   Approximate and/ or certified methods.
  •   Computer Implementations of Algorithmic Algebraic Geometry.
  •   Isogeometric Analysis.
A significant part of the time will be devoted to tutorial presentations, given by guest speakers.
Special sessions on free software (Axel, Mathemagix, ...) for applications in algebraic geometry and geometric modeling will also be held during the workshop.
Contributed research talks as well as presentations  connected to  the SAGA network activity are also planned.

Invited Speakers:
Oliver Labs (University of Saarbrucken)
Elias Tsigaridas (University of Athens)
Tae-Wan Kim (Seoul National University)
Wenping Wang (Hong Kong University)

Mathemagix tutorials by J. Berthomieu, J. van der Hoeven, G. Lecerf, Ph. Trébuchet
