Thesis title: "Degenerations and applications: polynomial interpolation and secant degree"

2006: M.Sc. Mathematics

My research interests span:

  • Toric degenerations of toric varieties and applications to modeling: toric patches
  • Degenerations of algebraic varieties and applications to classical problems as the study of secant varieties of projective toric varieties, in particular study of the k-secant varieties of Segre and Segre-Veronese varieties.
  • The polynomial interpolation problem: liner systems of hypersurfaces of P^r of degree d with multiple base points, partial polynomial interpolation in P^r.
  • Study of hypersurfaces of P^r by means of apolarity properties: in particular
comparison between the Jacobian ring and the apolar ring to the Hessian.
