The EU-funded Initial Training Network SAGA (www.saga-network.eu) is looking for promising candidates to fill its available positions. In particular, the following positions is available at GALAAD, INRIA Méditerranée:
- 1 position for "visiting scientists" for a duration one month.
The successful candidates will contribute to the SAGA workprogram. In particular, within work package 2, one topic of investigation is related to the reconstruction of tubular structures from unordered set of points in 3D. In the typical applications that we consider, the data are point cloud measured with a 3D laser scanner and the general problem is to reconstruct the geometry of a tree or a plant. The task flow that has been adopted is the following:
- determine a skeleton of the tree
- determine the topology of the branching.
- provide a representation amenable to compute offset or convolution surfaces of the skeleton of the branches
In this collaboration, we expect the visiting scientist to provide some expertise on the last point, in particular on circular splines and Pythagoran-Hodograph curves.
All candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria as described in Section III.3(2) of Annex III: Specific Provisions, Marie Curie Initial training networks, which is available at ftp://ftp.cordis.europa.eu/pub/fp7/docs/fp7-mga-annex3intramulti_en.pdf
The closing date for applications is February 18th, 2011. In order to apply for these positions, please send your CV and an application letter to
